Vegan Food Swap Chicago is a quarterly event where vegans and friends swap homemade and homegrown food.
Cook, bake, can, or forage your favorite vegan treats to share and go home with an assortment of new treats in return!
How does it work?
Arrive and meet your fellow swappers. Next find a spot for your swap items and any samples, fill out swap cards with ingredient information and any suggested uses for each item, then visit for a while and check out what everyone else brought. After that, list your name on the swap cards for food you're interested in trading for along with what you have to trade. Once everyone has a chance to look around, decide what they're interested in, and visit, we commence with swapping, and everyone goes home with an assortment of goodies.
What do people swap?
homemade jams, pickles, mustards, baked goods, spice mixes, soup, fresh herbs and veggies, kimchi, candies, kale chips, hot sauce, spiced nuts, dog treats, kombucha, sauerkraut, salsas, bread, dips, sauces, pierogies, sodas, crackers, energy bars, salad dressing, fruit and nut butters, giardiniera, fresh squeezed juice, homemade seitan, pot pies, granola, dried fruit, tamales, vinegar, nut "cheeses" and "milks", pasta or any other tasty food that is free of animal products.
